Gzhel is a Russian folk craft, a type of Russian folk painting, also one of the traditional Russian centers for the production of ceramics. Gzhel ceramics is an integral part of Russian culture. The first gzhel porcelain products appeared in the early nineteenth century. Production was launched by Pavel Kulichkov in 1802.
